Bicycles are available near the Cades Cove Campground Store, and seasonal vehicle-free Wednesdays provide a full day when the 11-mile Loop Road belongs to pedestrians and cyclists rather than motor traffic.

The rental operation is beside the campground store near the Loop Road entrance. Inventory is finite, and vehicle-free Wednesdays are especially busy. Rates, hours, reservation rules and available bicycle sizes can change, so use the operator’s current information rather than a screenshot or an older travel article.
Vehicle-free Wednesdays
A full day without motor vehicles
The outdated Wednesday-and-Saturday morning program no longer applies. For 2026, the National Park Service has scheduled vehicle-free access every Wednesday from May 6 through September 30. The closure lasts all day. Parking is limited, and the park recommends considering an afternoon arrival when the morning area is full.

Know
- Children under 16 must wear helmets
- Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted
- Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited
- Scooters, skateboards and hoverboards are not allowed
Decide whether the full loop fits your group
The road is paved, but it is not flat. Eleven miles, summer heat and limited shade can feel much harder than an ordinary neighborhood ride. Hyatt Lane and Sparks Lane may shorten the circuit when open and appropriately directed, but they also bypass many historic sites. Parents and inexperienced riders should make a conservative choice.
